Calum McRury – Senior Consultant: Originally, I’m from Sheffield and after I obtained a degree in Geography from Northumbria University (UK), I started my career in commercial sales. I’ve worked for a national press company within media sales, a commercial contractor and most recently working for an international FTSE 250 recruitment company. I have been praised for my excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Annemijn van Duijn – Associate Consultant: I started working at Frazer Jones in a Business Support function and this year I started working in an Associate Consultant role. I’m highly motivated and customer-focused professional with years of diverse experience within international corporate environments as well as sales and retail. My biggest strength is listening and having a can-do attitude with a positive outlook!
Fleur van Mourik – Consultant: I obtained my degree in European Public Health, started my career in healthcare and worked in the Oncology Hospital. From there, I moved to an executive search firm and for almost two years I’ve been working at Frazer Jones as a Consultant. With my personal and engaging approach, I help HR professionals, by matching candidates and clients requirements with a strong focus on cultural fit.
What types of roles does the “HR Talent” team Recruit for?
Calum: Frazer Jones offers executive search services for senior to board level HR assignments. Our HR Talent division that we work in, focusses on junior to senior (mid-level) HR roles across the Benelux region and work from their office based in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.
Fleur: As a specialist in HR we believe that we need to create touchpoints with HR talent as early in their career as possible! Furthermore, we support HR Managers/Directors across different sectors in building their teams. Roles we are working on, are for example; Recruiters, HR-officers, HR Advisors, HR Business Partner, HR Managers, Compensation & Benefits Consultants, Learning & Development, Workday Consultants, HRIS specialist etc.
Annemijn: As the HR Talent team, we focus on roles from junior level up to around €80k in terms of salary level. Our other two teams focus specifically on Interim/Contract roles and the other team on the more Senior/Executive roles in the HR-market.
What does the current HR-market look like?
Calum: We are in the worst crisis since 2008, but luckily things are changing around. Even with the new restrictions, we have all been through this type of lockdown and as such businesses are already prepared and no longer have the same ‘panic’ from the 1st lockdown. We have seen job intakes increase from month to month, we are seeing a lot more activity in the job market.
Annemijn: Two weeks ago, Fleur & and I went on our first client meeting on location. There are roles available and clients are more open to receiving candidates.
Fleur: Currently, there are a lot of candidates available, before COVID-19 it was the other way around. So, for all the candidates out there, if you are open for new opportunities, make sure you stand-out with your profile. For example, make sure your LinkedIn profile is up-to-date and your CV is ready to send out. Do you need help or some advice? Feel free to reach out to one of us!
How can you quickly improve your LinkedIn profile and why?
Fleur: Explain in a few bullet points your current job role (responsibilities, HR team, biggest achievement etc.). Add a Summary section and make sure you have a LinkedIn profile picture, we often have to read through 50/60 applications a day, so making sure that your profile is fully up to date, with lots of relevant information really helps you stand out. This also makes your application seem more serious, if you haven’t attached a CV, and your LinkedIn profile isn’t very attractive, it’s very difficult for us as Recruiters to take the application seriously.
Annemijn: Ask for recommendations from colleagues or people you may have worked with from other companies, like vendors of yours. This will also help with your profile and give the recruiter confidence in your ability as a professional.
Calum: Post and like articles. But keep in mind that you use your LinkedIn professionally and not as a Facebook or Instagram profile, showing that you have an invested interest in your own career, and understand the wider implications of your job can really set you apart.
